The pre-kinder children were introduced to the balancing rainbow. Educator Emma began by explaining that all the blocks sitting on top is helping it to balance. However, when we removed one block from one side it began to tilt. The children continued to explore what happens when they removed and replaced blocks. There was lots of group discussion and interaction, trial and error, and teamwork. The children developed their problem solving and critical thinking skills as well as gaining  basic understanding of the concept of balance .
